What to Do If Your Dog's Paw Pads Are Dry and Cracked

Unfortunately, the outdoors can wreak havoc on your dog’s paws. In the summer, the cement can become so hot that the paw pads get burned, while the salty sidewalks in the winter can dry them out. Here are some tips on taking care of your dog’s feet if he ends up with cracked paw pads.

It’s important to try and heal the crack as fast as possible. Walking around on a cracked paw pad hurts! The best way to encourage the healing process is to apply a moisturizing ointment, then place a sock over your dog’s foot to help the ointment soak in. Try and keep your dog off of his feet as much as possible.
