Beware of hogs in Hogsback – Stories of Vlou, the traveling Beagle

Vlou, the traveling Beagle, is in Hogsback. Read his newest story: Beware of hogs in Hogsback.

– grrrrrrrrrrr, grrrrrrrrrrrr, grrrrrrrrrrrr, wuff!… wuff!!!

A big hog is hiding between a massive trunk of a gigantic yellowwood tree and some bushes. I can spot its huge tusks, whose white stands out in the shade. Between the legs I see movement. Small baby hogs are clunching to her legs as they are scared of me. The mother boar snorts furiously and stamps determinedly with her front feet on the ground. Danger! I think. No good to be in the way of a mother boar protecting her young! But the thought comes to me too late as she is already charging!

In a fierce backrole I try to escape, but she is fast, faster than me. My heart is pounding, my breath is leaving me. I’m running, but not quick enough. The mother boar is getting closer and closer. I feel already her hot breath in my neck! Eaaaaaah, she gets me ….

– Vlou, Vlouuuuuuu! Wake up! You are dreaming badly, boy. You had a nightmare.

Marcelle wakes me up calling gently and stroking my head. I open my sticky eyes to a small split as it’s already very bright out there.

– Time to get up and explore the woods around Hogsback. Get the blanket of you and come!

– Did you say Hogsback? Hooooooggggsss-back!!! I stay under my blanket for the rest of the day. You ain’t going to get me out there!

Vlou shuts his eyes again and roles himself into a small ball back under his blanket. No way to change the mind of a Beagle, or maybe, maybe … that sardine smells really nice!
